Mexico 2010

5.2.10 Mexico Trip Update:

Hello Mexico Team,

This is your first Team email from us, with many more to come.  We are so excited about this trip to Grace Children's Home.  We currently have 23 (maybe 25) folks signed up to go.

Important regarding Passports:  Please email me to let me know that you received this email and let me know the expiration date on your passport or the date you applied for your passport or let me know that you still need to apply.  I want everyone to actually physically find their passport, look at it and be sure it is valid, this is why I am asking for an expiration date.  If you have not yet applied please visit this website for information on applying http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html.  Plan to bring a photocopy of your passport, or passport card to the 1st mission meeting. (or email it to me).

In the email Chris sent there was a list of names of people going with you on the trip, if you need that list again, please email Chris. Keep this list of names handy so you can begin praying for your teammates as we come together to serve children, families and the Lord in Mexico.  If you know of anyone who is still interested in going, please have them contact us, so that we can add them to the waitlist.  I do anticipate adding names from a waitlist.  If you know of any skilled men who are interested we will definitely take them along.  Plumbers, electricians, framers, etc.....  Even if the trip is full, we will make room for anyone with this kind of skill.

Meetings:
Our first meeting will be Sunday May 16th at 3:00
in one of the upstairs rooms at Christian Life Center.  We anticipate the meeting to run 1 1/2 to 2 hours.  Afterwards there will be an optional hang out / question answer time at Taqueria Vallarta on Mission.  We will have a second meeting on Sunday June 20th.  As we are only having 2 meetings, it is crucial that you plan to attend both meetings.

Facebook:
I have started a Facebook group called Elevation Mexico 2010. Hopefully, I got you on the invitation list.  If not let me know.

Tentative Agenda for 1st Meeting:
Introduction of the Team
Collect 1/2 of your balance due.  Talk about support raising.
Forms to fill out for Yugo.
Talk about Transportation / Drivers / Auto Insurance
What special skills do we have in our group?  Brainstorm what we want to do and how to pay for it?
Missions training.. flexibility, fear, story

Raising Support:
Attached is a sample support letter.  Please use this sample if you need it to write your own.  I would recommend sending at least 30 letters.  Support should be sent to Elevation and have a note attached that it is for your trip. Ask for support to be sent by June 6th.  I recommend that you get these letters out as soon as you are able.

Support Raising We encourage everyone to follow the biblical example of raising support for missions.   This involves you inviting friends or family members to join in the mission through praying for you and/or providing financial support for your trip.

How will we get there? We will drive personal vehicles.  Gas and Mexican auto insurance is included in the trip cost.  Drivers will not need to cover these costs.

What will we do? Grace Children’s Home is in the process of building an Infant Center.  Construction work on this home is needed.  Currently 30-40 children live at Grace Children’s home.  We will plan daily activities to do with these children.  We may be able to coordinate some evangelism activities outside of Grace Children’s Home.

Training We will have 2 training meetings / information meetings.  One in May, and one in June.  The purpose of these meetings is to give information, plan any programs we will be doing, pray for the trip and each other.

Passports Everyone is required to a have a valid US Passport.  Passport processing time is 4 - 6 weeks. Please visit the following site for passport costs & details:  http://travel.state.gov/passport/
